poem
I did not call you last night
as the midnight whipoorwill mourned
my chocolate frosted lips - unlicked-
and the coital scent of cocoa
saturated the air.
I did not miss you last night--
did not recall how your shoulders eclipse
the kitchen light and my shadow
did not fight to exist. My cheeks
did not burn
against the humid song of crickets.
I did not dream of you last night
feral and crouched
over my perfect chocolate cake.

saturated the air.
I did not miss you last night--
did not recall how your shoulders eclipse

I did not dream of you last night

over my perfect chocolate cake.

Yay! Laura's writing poetry! Where the heck do you find the time with everything else going on in your life?
I really loved the line about shoulders eclipsing the kitchen light and your shadow fighting to exist.
This is sexy yet playful and yummy. What a combo, eh? Sorry, been a long time since I really sat down to review any sort of poetry. Good to see you writing agian, though. More, please!
very cool
Mmmmmmmmmmm.... chocolate cake.
Cocoa will never seem the same to me again... good thing I've always veered towards coffee anyway, hm?
I'm vaguely reminded of the lyrics from 'I Get Along' by the Petshop Boys...
"I get along, get along,
Without you fairly well,
I get along fairly well..."
Although your descriptive is much richer.

Crickets in the basement keep me awake, and I hate the buggers. Their song is the song of madness... Good to see someone is immune to their machinations of misery.
Call me.
